National Bank lowered minimal reserve requirements by 1% starting from July 29
(Interfax) - “In order to regulate short-term liquidity of second-tier banks National Bank has changed minimal reserve requirements: instead of 6% for domestic liabilities and 8% for other liabilities, new rates of 5% and 7% respectively have been imposed,” National Bank said in a press release.

(Silk Road Intelligencer) - Kazakhstan national oil and gas company KazMunaiGas floated five- and ten-year notes on Wednesday worth $3 billion, Interfax-Kazakhstan reported citing Bloomberg.
Imperial strikes it rich with production of oil
(redOrbit) - Oil company Imperial Energy announced that drilling is ahead of schedule and it is on track to deliver 25,000 barrels of oil per day by the end of this year.
Kazakhstan’s Tax Committee announced that PetroKazakhstan, a joint venture between Chinese CNPC and Kazakh KazMunaiGas, will have to pay 56.3 billion tenge ($470 million) in excess profit back tax.
Of the 15 former Soviet republics, Kazakhstan is sitting on the sole “superfield” discovered in the last three decades. With proven reserves of 35 billion barrels, Kazakhstan potentially contains the world’s third largest reserves of oil, after Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
Arawak Energy Ltd., a Toronto-listed oil company with operations in Kazakhstan, Russia and Azerbaijan, said it was planning to float on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange on July 1. According to a press release, the company hopes to broaden its investor base and improve its financing options with the listing.
Arawak Energy appointed JP Morgan Cazenove in April to advise it on the listing. The company expects to maintain the listing of its shares on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
According to the press release, in the first quarter of 2008, Arawak Energy produced on average 11,774 barrels of oil per day from Russia and Kazakhstan, with an additional 174 barrels of oil equivalent per day of gas from Azerbaijan.
