(SRI) - Kazakhmys, the Kazakh LSE-listed copper miner, has called off merger talks with Metalloinvest, an unlisted Russian mining group, after it has seen its share price slump 85 percent since May.

Home Credit business model introduced at IBA after acquisition
(bne) - International Bank of Almaty is re-branding as Home Credit after Jiri Smejc, a large shareholder in the Netherlands-based investment firm PPF Group that owns Home Credit, bought 90.01% of its shares. Home Credit acquired the remaining 9.99%.

Indian PNB plans to acquire a Kazakh bank
(SRI) - Indian state-run Punjab National Bank (PNB) plans to acquire a bank in Kazakhstan as part of its overseas expansion strategy, according to PNB chairman and managing director KC Chakrabarty.

Kulibayev appointed deputy head of SamrukKazyna
(SRI) - Timur Kulibayev, the influential son-in-law of Kazakhstan’s president, has been appointed deputy head of SamrukKazyna, a new state holding company managing strategic national assets, the government said on Friday.
