Government ratifies Caspian pipeline accord
(RBC News) - The Russian government today ratified an intergovernmental agreement between Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan on cooperation in building the Pre-Caspian gas pipeline.
Over the first six months of this year the oil extraction in Kazakhstan increased by 7.8%, natural gas extraction by 15.6% and the production of gas condensate by 4%. The liquid hydrocarbon exports grew by 2.4% in comparison with the previous year’s figures.
Warnings by the international rating agencies about the possibility of yet another reduction in the ratings of Kazakh banks were among the most noteworthy events in the first half of this year. At the same time, these warnings came against a background of the repayment of the banks’ external liabilities.
