Kazakhstan postpones decision on construction of grain terminal in Georgia

(KazTAG) – Kazakhstan will return to the issue of construction of grain terminal in Georgia in spring, Ak Bidai company, involved in design of the grain terminal in Batumi, told journalists.

The company planned to make a decision to construct the terminal with capacity of 350,000 tons of grain a year in December but later postponed the issue in connection with the global financial crisis.

As reported earlier, an affiliate of Prodkorporazia (Food corporation) – Ak Bidai Terminal initially planned to construct a grain terminal in Poti. Later it refused the plan in connection with disputes with Georgian party on charter capital of the joint Kazakhstani-Georgian company Poti grain terminal.

Later, the Kazakhstani investor said it would build a grain terminal in Batumi seaport. It was planned that Ak Bidai Terminal and Batumi seaport would create a joint company for the project.
