(SRI) - KazTransOil, the national pipeline operator, transported 47.5 million tons of oil through its oil pipelines in 2008 vs. 45.7 million tons in 2007, a 3.9-percent increase, Interfax reported.
Transportation via the Atyrau-Samara pipeline, which carries Kazakh crude to Russia and connects to Russian Transneft system, increased from 15.97 million tons in 2007 to 16.77 million tons last year.
KazTransOil transported 6.11 million tons of crude using the Atasu-Alashankou pipeline, compared to 4.77 million tons in 2007. The pipeline line carries Kazakh and Russian oil to China. In 2008, as much as 1.038 million tons of Russian oil was transported through the pipeline, while none went through in 2007.
TON-2 oil pipeline transported 4.99 million tons of Russian crude in 2008 (vs. 1.95 million tons the year before).
Last year, 11.34 million tons of crude was transported to Kazakhstan-based refineries, a slight increase compared to 2007 (11.07 million tons).
