(SRI) - BTA Bank reported an estimated loss of KZT1.188 trillion ($7.9 billion) which would result in negative shareholder equity of KZT743 billion ($4.9 billion).

Kazakhstan’s oil production rises 3 percent year-on-year
(SRI) - Kazakhstan’s crude oil and gas condensate production in January through May 2009 amounted to 30.547 million tons, a 3-percent increase compared to the same period of last year.

Kazakhgold enters into loan agreement with major shareholder
(SRI) - KazakhGold, the London-listed gold miner, raised a $9.375 million loan from Gold Lion Holdings Limited, an investment vehicle which holds approximately 22.1m shares in KazakhGold on behalf of the Assaubayevs family, the company’s majority shareholder.

Afghan leader urges Kyrgyzstan to keep U.S. base
(Reuters) - Afghan President Hamid Karzai has urged Kyrgyzstan to abandon plans to shut a U.S. military air base used to support operations in Afghanistan, a senior Kyrgyz official said on Saturday.
