Kazakhstan has no plans to seek IMF’s help
(SRI) - Kazakhstan has no plans to seek help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov said on Monday in Astana where the IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn arrived as part of his four-day tour in Central Asia.

Orsu to sell Varvarinskoye gold mine
(SRI) - Orsu Metals Corp, a copper and gold mining company with operations in Central Asia, agreed to sell its Varvarinskoye gold-copper project in Kazakhstan to Russian precious metals miner Polymetal for about $235 million.

Uranium One acquires interest in Kazakhstan mine
(Stockhouse) - Following closing of the acquisition, ARMZ will hold an indirect 16.6% interest in Uranium One.

(Reuters) - Top Russian gold miner Polyus Gold said on Friday it agreed to buy 50.1 percent of KazakhGold Group in a cash and share deal for about $269 million.

EBRD and Temir Zholy sign MoU

(SRI) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZh), Kazakhstan’s national railway operator, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in efforts to rebuild Kazakhstan’s ailing railway sector.
