(Reuters) - Chinese President Hu Jintao, forced to abandon a G8 summit in Italy by ethnic violence in restive Xinjiang, said that maintaining social stability in the energy-rich region was the “most urgent task,” state television reported on Thursday.

Eurasian Development Bank issues bonds

(SRI) - Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), the development institution jointly owned by Kazakhstan and Russia, issued bonds for a total of KZT5 billion ($33 million). This is the second issuance by the EDB which placed KZT15 billion ($100 million) in April.

Tire recycling plant opens in Astana

(SRI) - A new tire recycling plant operated by Kazakhstan Rubber Recycling opened in Astana on Thursday, local media reported.

Residential real estate prices continue to fall

(SRI) - The average residential real estate price in Kazakhstan fell 0.6 percent month-to-month to KZT141,462 ($943) per square meter for newly built homes, while prices on the secondary market fell 1.6 percent to KZT104,420 ($696) per square meter, the state statistical agency reported.
