(bne) - As Kazakhstan enters its third year of crisis, the long-awaited clarity about BTA Bank and Alliance Bank’s restructuring is imminent. Kazkommertsbank and Halyk Bank appear to be stable, but the growing burden of problem loans means that things could still get worse before they get better in Kazakh banking sector.
Alliance Bank to finalize restructuring by September
(SRI) - Alliance bank will finalize its $4-billion restructuring in September and will finish the restructuring process by November.
Kazakhstan’s economy grows 3 percent quarter-on quarter
(SRI) - Kazakhstan’s GDP grew by 3 percent in the second quarter compared to the first quarter but the overall economic growth is still negative year-on-year.

KazMunaiGas reports significant fall in net income in H1
(SRI) - KazMunaiGas, the Kazakh national oil and gas company, reported on Wednesday its consolidated net income fell to KZT39.2 billion ($260 million) in the first half of 2009, from KZT271.5 billion in the same period of 2008.

(SRI) - Kazakhstan’s financial police are investigating the former management of Alliance Bank in connection with unreported deals which have led to losses of $1.1 billion.
Kazakh developer avoids receivership for project
(Bloomberg) - Bazis International, a Kazakh developer planning a C$542 million ($490 million) hotel- condominium tower in Toronto, struck a deal with lenders that stopped the project from being put into immediate receivership.
