Non-performing loans in Kazakhstan soar in H1
(SRI) - According to most recent data on Kazakhstan’s banking sector published last Thursday by the Financial Supervision Agency (FSA), the banks’ loan portfolios continued to deteriorate, while provisions have increased.

Real estate prices continue to fall
(SRI) - Real estate prices in Kazakhstan fell by 2.4 percent in July, the state statistics agency reported. This is a second consecutive monthly decline after prices seemingly bottomed out in April and May.

(AFP) - Russia and its partners plan to join the WTO as a single customs union but may sign separate entry agreements, a top official said Wednesday, amid bafflement in the West at the Kremlin’s membership bid.

(Reuters) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin pledged half a billion dollars to defend the breakaway region of Abkhazia on Wednesday during a surprise visit which Georgia said escalated tensions in the Caucasus.
