Karachaganak consortium to suspend Kazakhstan legal action
(SRI) - Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO), a joint venture led by British BG Group and Italian Eni, suspended legal proceedings against the Kazakh government to recover more than $1 billion in export duties it had paid to Kazakhstan.
KPO to submit plan for third phase of Karachaganak development this year - CEO
(SRI) - Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO) plans to submit to the Kazakh government this year a new development plan for the third phase of the Karachaganak gas and condensate field, BG Group CEO Frank Chapman said Wednesday.
Astana Finance offers to repay trade finance debt in full in exchange for more funding
(SRI) - Astana Finance offered to repay its trade finance debt of $221 million in full if affected credit agencies agree to a ten-year debt rollover and provide additional funding, the lender’s CEO Elmira Ibatullina told journalists.
Metro to open 10 - 15 stores in Kazakhstan
(SRI) - German retailer Metro Cash & Carry plans to open 10 to 15 wholesale stores in Kazakhstan, with estimated $15 million to $20 million investments in each.

(SRI) - Astana Finance’s head accountant Raisa Sedova said on Wednesday the lender had paid EUR80 million ($119 million) on a credit default swap (CDS) contract on BTA Bank debt sold in 2007.

(AP) - The European Union on Tuesday dropped the last remaining sanctions against Uzbekistan imposed after a 2005 crackdown on an uprising.

Azerbaijan Airlines orders four Boeing jets
(AFP) - Ex-Soviet Azerbaijan’s flagship carrier AZAL said Wednesday it had ordered four new Boeing airplanes for its growing fleet, including two of the US company’s 787 Dreamliner long-haul jets.
