Kazakhmys gets huge loan to supply China with copper

(AFP) - Copper miner Kazakhmys said Wednesday it had arranged a 2.7-billion-dollar (1.9-billion-euro) loan from a Kazakh fund and a Chinese bank to help meet growing demand for copper in China.

(SRI) - The creditors of Alliance Bank, Kazakhstan’s second-largest lender to default this year, voted to approve a plan to restructure KZT677 billion ($4.5 billion) of debt.

Eurasian Bank buys Russian lender
(SRI) - Eurasian Bank, Kazakhstan’s tenth largest bank, has bought for an undisclosed sum a banking subsidiary of Troika Dialog, Russia’s oldest brokerage.

Uranium One buys 50 percent of Karatau mine

(Reuters) - The United States has greatly expanded the use of a new supply route through Central Asia this year to send nonmilitary cargo to its troops in Afghanistan, a Defense Department official said on Tuesday.
