(SRI) - Alcatel-Lucent and Kazakh Transtelecom have signed a $100-million deal with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZh), the national railway company, to modernize its telecommunication network.
Under the deal, Alcatel-Lucent will build a fast WAN infrastructure that will enable the delivery of new services and upgrade passenger and cargo traffic handling capabilities.
“Through this project, Alcatel-Lucent is able to directly contribute to the deployment of the most modern telecommunications infrastructure in Kazakhstan. We will leverage our experience in similar deployments and provide an overall project management to allow Transtelecom to efficiently support critical communications,” Alexander Tikhonov, head of Alcatel-Lucent operations in CIS, said.
