(SRI) - Kazakhstan’s national nuclear company, Kazatomprom, has lowered its uranium production plans for 2008-2009, Interfax reported on Friday.
As the nuclear industry enjoys a global revival, Kazatomprom is positioning itself to overtake Cameco as the world’s largest producer of uranium. It said in July that it expects to achieve this as early as next year, rather than in 2010 as originally planned.
(SRI) - Kazakhstan aims to become the leading producer of uranium by 2009, Mukhtar Dzhakishev, president of Kazakhstan’s state-owned nuclear company Kazatomprom, said on Tuesday.
Kazatomprom, Kazakhstan’s state-owned nuclear company, plans to raise a 2-year $300 million syndicated loan in July, Kazatomprom president Mukhtar Dzhakishev announced on Tuesday at a press conference in Almaty.
According to Dzhakishev, Citibank has been mandated to arrange the deal.
Kazatomprom, the Kazakh national nuclear company, plans to build several sulfur processing plants in the republic, said Raushan Sarmurzina, director of the Petrochemical Department at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, at the Kazakh-Canadian business forum in Astana on Wednesday.
